Banqer: A great financial tool in Room 1 and 2 to learn about MONEY!

Students are learning all about Finances. Saving money, doing a job, getting paid and making payments for expenses incurred. Even buying property and renting it out.

But wait, one student has also won an art challenge to help Banqer with their Facebook banner.

Well done Joaquin!!

Healthy Sea, Healthy people

I bob up and down in the sea
Waves come crashing over me
I can be on the floor in the depths of the ocean
I can be on the the surface causing a commotion
Thrown carelessly by the men on a boat
The sea is not where I should float

Where should I be?
Not in the sea
In the trash is where I should be!

By Mollie

In room two we have been writing poems for the the national aquarium sea week. The poems that we have been writing have to be along the theme of 'Healthy sea Healthy people'. The class is eagerly awaiting the winners of the challenge which will be announced on the second of June. This poem is what I have submitted into the challenge. It is about the rubbish and pollution in the ocean. It has a nice little message on where we should be putting our rubbish. I have posted my poem to show you what kind of awesome activities we have been doing in our classroom.

My aquarium poem!

Healthy seas healthy people

Rubbish rubbish in the sea
Crappy for fish and crappy for me
Poopy water poopy sand
Fish get dried up on the land

Salt and vinegar on my chips
Leave the fish it will make you sick
Water water going brown
Fish get sick and then they drown

So keep the water blue blue blue
Please don’t flush rubbish in the loo
Happy fish healthy seas
Fish and chips? Oh yes please

Students are working on a project called "Adopt a Country" where they investigate and research a country that appeals to them and see if it is a better place to live than New Zealand.

A hard task to achieve we all agree, but worthwhile to show how wonderful our country is too!

Aquarium Poetry Compition

Healthy Sea, Healthy people
Intermediate category
Wave-Thrashing
Fish-Bearing
Tsunami-Warnings
That is the rule of the sea

Litter-Within
Polluted-I am
Oil leaked-throughout
This is not what I choose, why does it have to be

Pulled-by rips
Sharks-I hold
People-fear
That is I who causes that, can’t I help, that’s just myself

You who ruins will be without a doubt the one causes the world to pay,
I will not mend myself so help me out,
Take good care of me,
You who are wise shall see,
For that is the rule of the sea.

In Room 1 and 2 we entered a writing competition for the National Aquarium of New Zealand. The theme was Healthy sea, Healthy people. My poem was partly a Kennings poem from the perspective of the sea. The criteria of the poems were that you had to have 400 hundred words or less and you had to reflect the the theme of the competition. The winners will be announced on Friday 2nd June and will read their poem at the reading evening on Thursday 8th June at 7 pm.

Our Identity Crests

Room 1 and 2 Pod learnt about family crests and created one of their own personal crests based around things important to them. Here is a small selection.

Students personalised number plates!!

In Term 1, Room 1 and 2 Pod have spent time thinking about what their personalised number plate would be, if they had a car! Here are some examples.
